What We Build in Wakefield
Wakefield’s Victorian-era homes often have formal, closed-off kitchens that don’t match how families live now. Our kitchen remodeling opens these spaces up while honoring the home’s period detailing, scale, and trim.
Bathrooms in Wakefield’s older homes can be small and dated, sometimes carved out of original bedrooms over the years. Our bathroom remodeling updates plumbing, fixtures, and tile and reworks the layout to suit the house.
When a Wakefield family needs more room, our home additions add space, with bedrooms, suites, family rooms, and second stories designed to match the rooflines and ornamentation of a Queen Anne or Stick-style home rather than clash with it. When a lake-side house has reached the end of what a remodel can fix, we also build new homes on the same lot, designed around the conservation setbacks that come with property near Lake Quannapowitt or Crystal Lake.
New England weather and lake-side air are hard on exteriors. Our exterior remodeling covers siding, windows, doors, and the detailed trim carpentry that Wakefield’s Victorian-era homes need, and we’re a SunPro Certified Dealer for exterior products.
Remodeling in Wakefield: What to Know
Wakefield is defined by its water. Lake Quannapowitt sits at the center of town, ringed by a three-and-a-half-mile walking path and waterfront parks, with Crystal Lake to the south. The West Side, near the lake, is one of the town’s older neighborhoods, with well-preserved Queen Anne and Stick-style Victorians from the 1870s and 1880s — some of the most ornate homes in the area, with patterned shingles, decorated porches, and complex rooflines. Greenwood and Montrose round out the town with their own mix of homes and their own commuter-rail stops.
That lake-centered geography matters for remodeling. Properties near Lake Quannapowitt, Crystal Lake, or the streams feeding them can fall under Conservation Commission jurisdiction, typically for work within 100 feet of a wetland or pond, or 200 feet of a river, so an addition, deck, or other exterior work on a near-water lot may need conservation review before it begins. The town’s ornate older homes also carry the usual century-old realities: plaster walls, original windows, dated wiring, and intricate trim that has to be matched, not approximated. We plan for all of it up front.
Permitting in Wakefield runs through the town’s building department, and we pull every permit ourselves as part of our process.
